This was a custom design with tight constraints on the mechanical and thermal profiles. The supply to the sonar preamplifiers was specified for very low in-band noise and put severe constraints on the power supply switching frequency. The unit operates at the end of a long tow cable and embodies power factor correction and power sequencing to limit the in-rush current demand. It provides controlled charging of the bulk capacitors that supply the high power pulse amplifiers. |
